City & Guilds 2391-10 - Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
Who is the Course aimed at?
This qualification is intended for electricians with practical experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations, who require to become certificated. It is not suitable for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have any experience in inspecting, testing and certifying electrical installations - candidates who are not experienced in inspection and testing should try to gain some supervised on-site experience before progressing to the 2391-10.
In addition to relevant practical experience, candidates must possess a good working knowledge of the technical requirements of BS 7671 to City & Guilds 2382 (see separate information sheet) standard or equivalent.
What does the Course cover?
The Course is based around the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2008 and Inspection and Testing Guidance Note 3. The Course covers the inspection, testing and certification of single and three-phase electrical installations and periodic inspection, testing and reporting.
Why should I attend this Course?
The 2391-10 qualification is accepted by some register holding bodies as suitable criteria for competent persons schemes registration, for example Part P, NICEIC approved contractors and the qualification forms part of the Continuous Professional Development available to the electrical sector, allowing those working in the industry to develop their skills and keep up to date with requirements.
This Course forms a useful bridge between the City & Guilds 2382 (17th Edition) and the City & Guilds 2391-20 (Design, Erection and Verification) Courses and successful completion of the 2391-10 may be used to exempt candidates from the testing component of City & Guilds 2391-20.
How long does the Course take?
The Course is delivered as four days of classroom-based theory revision with practical demonstrations where necessary. An additional two days of practical revision/training is available for experienced candidates who are rusty on inspection and testing and wish to refresh their knowledge, and for less experienced candidates.
Candidates will also be required to attend on one additional half-day to complete a practical assessment and one evening (date and time set by City & Guilds) for the written examination.
What does it cost and what is included?
The total cost for the 4 day Course is £435 + VAT. If the additional practical revision is required, this is available at a cost of £200 + VAT. This price includes all revision, Course handouts, assessment and certification fees. We require a minimum deposit of £100 to confirm your place.
Late entry deadlines apply to this Course and these deadlines are approximately 6 weeks prior to the written examination date (please ask for the exact date). If you wish to book onto a Course within the late entry period an additional charge of £130 + VAT is payable to cover the City & Guilds late entry fees.
What happens after the Course?
Once you have completed the Assessments, your practical result will be uploaded to City & Guilds and your written paper will be sent off to a City & Guilds Examiner for marking.
Results (and certificates where applicable) will be sent to us approximately 8 weeks after the written examination date. We will then write to you with notification of your examination result enclosing your certificate if both components have been taken and passed. We are not permitted to give written examination results over the telephone.
What does the Assessment involve?
There are two parts to the Assessment for this Course - one half-day practical Assessment (component 2391-302), and one evening written examination (date and time as set by City & Guilds) for the 2 ½ hour, closed-book written examination which consists of 26 questions (component 2391-301).
