First Aid at Work 3 days (18 hours)

Who is this course for?

The First Aid at Work is aimed at a workplace with higher level hazards, such as chemicals or machinery. E.g. light engineering and assembly work, food processing, warehousing, work with machinery or sharpe instruments, construction etc.

This course is also ideal for workplace first aiders or anyone wanting a comprehensive introduction to first aid.

What’s covered?

The course will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with a first aid emergency at work. The main areas that will be covered are as follows:

  1. The Role and Responsibility of a First Aider.
  2. Assessing an Incident.
  3. Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is Breathing Normally.
  4. Managing an Unresponsive Casualty who is not Breathing Normally.
  5. Recognise and Assist a Casualty who is Choking.
  6. Managing a Casualty who is Wounded and Bleeding.
  7. Managing a Casualty who is in Shock.
  8. Managing a Casualty with a Minor Injury.
  9. Administer First Aid for a range of conditions.
  10. Managing a Casualty for a range of major illnesses.

Assessment and certification

Continuous assessment will be completed by the trainer throughout the course. There will also be three practical scenarios assessed by independent assessors. After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive an HSE approved certificate valid for three years.

This course is compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher.

3 hour annual refresher Training (after the 1st and 2nd year) is included in the cost of this course.
