OFTEC Oil Firing Commisioning and Servicing Pressure Jet Appliances (OFT 101)

Our Oil Courses/Assessments are suitable for Category 1 Applicants who are able to provide evidence of their existing OFTEC qualifications and Category 2 Applicants who have attended our 3 day Oil Introduction Course (OFT 50 equivalent).  For information about Applicant Categories please see our OFTEC Entry Requirements.

Unless candidates have done an OFTEC Assessment within 6 months of the new Assessment Category, candidates must attend the OFT 600A revision in order to cover the underpinning knowledge and health and safety which is common to all Assessment Categories.  If on attendance of this revision course the candidate decides to do the OFT 600A Assessment, additional charges may apply.  Please speak to one of our Sales Advisers for full details, information and advice.

Who is the Course aimed at?

The OFT 101 is suitable for Category 1 Applicants who wish to renew their OFT 101 qualification.

It is also suitable for Category 2 Applicants who wish to service and commission pressure jet appliances (e.g. boilers), providing that they have completed our Oil Introductory Course prior to attending the OFT 101 Course.

What does the Course cover?

The OFT 101 Assessment Category is designed for candidates who work on domestic/light commercial pressure jet appliances.  The course will cover: OFTEC registration and health and safety; basic oil storage; basic oil-fired appliance installation requirements; heating system controls; corrosion in heating systems; appliance and tank installation; commissioning, servicing and fault finding for pressure jet appliances.

How long does the Course take?

The OFT 101 Assessment Category takes two days (these two days include the OFT 600A revision) to complete for a Category 1 Applicant.

What does it cost and what is included?

The total cost of this Assessment Category is £376 plus VAT.  This price can be broken down as: revision at £100 plus VAT; assessment at £150 plus VAT, OFTEC technical information books 1, 2, 3 and 4 at £31.50 plus VAT each.

Books will be given out on Day 1 of the course.

If you are a Category 2 Applicant (please see OFTEC Entry Requirements) you must attend our 3 day Oil Introduction Course (OFT 50 equivalent) before attending this Course.  This is available at the cost of £300 plus VAT.

Considerable discounts are available when three or more Assessment Categories are booked at the same time.  Please ask our Sales Advisers for details.

What does the Assessment involve?

To pass this Assessment Category, it is necessary to successfully complete a number of written Assessments.  These take place in the afternoon after the revision.

On successful completion of all the Assessments we will internally verify your paperwork (we have 10 working days after you have completed your Assessment in which to do this, providing we have all your relevant paperwork) and send it off to the certification body to be processed and uploaded to OFTEC.  This can take up to six weeks.

Once this process is complete, you will receive a certificate and card directly from the certification body.

Successful completion of this Assessment Category does not automatically result in OFTEC registration.  A separate application must be made directly to OFTEC for OFTEC registration.
