These qualifications are intended for qualified Electricians with practical experience of inspection and testing of electrical installations, who require proof of competency or certification in this important area of their work.
A replacement for the City & Guilds 2391 programme, these qualifications are recognised by the electrical industry as the benchmark for those who carry out initial verification as well as periodic inspection and testing activities. If you intend to test other people's work (as well as your own) you will also need these two qualifications.
The qualifications are based around the requirements for the current edition of the Wiring Regulations and Inspection and Testing Guidance Note 3. The qualifications cover the inspection, testing and certification of single and three-phase electrical installations and periodic inspection, testing and reporting. The programme is made up of two qualifications which have been combined as there is significant common ground:
- The first part of the qualification is designed for candidates who need to carry out Initial Verification work on newly installed installations
- The second part of the qualification is designed for candidates who need to carry out Periodic Inspection and testing on existing installations.
These courses are not suitable for non-qualified Electricians and/or those who do not have any experience in inspecting, testing and certificating electrical installations.
The course takes between 8 and 11 days, with practical assessment and online examination.
Further details may be found in the course information sheet (CIS 010).
