Solar Photovoltaic (PV)

Who is the Course aimed at?

This Course has been developed for individuals who wish to gain a personal competence certificate in Photovoltaic systems, to allow them to make an application for registration with a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

What does the Course cover?

This Course will cover the majority of small scale Photovoltaic systems currently installed within the British Isles.  It will also cover information required to design, install, commission, service and fault find.  It is not intended to cover every aspect of every scenario.  It will also not cover areas that form part of the main pre-requisites.

Areas covered include:

  • Environmental background
  • Different types of Solar PV technology
  • Design and specification of Solar PV systems
  • Installation of Solar PV systems
  • Maintenance of Solar PV systems
  • Government grants and funding bodies

How long does the Course take?

The Course is delivered over 3 days.


What happens after the Course?

Once we have internally verified your paperwork (we have 10 working days after you have completed your Assessment in which to do this, providing we have all your relevant paperwork and any related invoices have been cleared) we send it off to the certification body to be processed.  This can take up to 20 working days.

Once this process is complete, you will receive a certificate directly from the certification body.

What does the Assessment involve?

To pass this Course, it is necessary to successfully complete a mixture of written and practical assessments.

How do I book a place?

The easiest and quickest way to book a place on this Course is to telephone the office (Burgess Hill Centre: 01444 870860 or Portsmouth Centre: 02392 190190) and speak to one of our advisers.  They will be able to discuss dates and availability with you and can take payment by debit/credit card to confirm your place.

Alternatively, you can email us for dates and availability or, if we have already sent you a booking form, you can complete and return it with your payment.  It’s important that all bookings are sent to the Burgess Hill centre – details can be found on the Centre Information Sheet/Map.
