Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems (UDHWSS)
Who is the Course aimed at?
The Course is aimed at operatives from the plumbing, heating & ventilating and gas industries with experience and underpinning knowledge of installing unvented domestic hot water storage systems. There is a separate Course available for limited scope individuals e.g. electricians.
What does the Course cover?
The Course covers the necessary design, installation, commissioning and maintenance knowledge, skills and understanding required to safely install unvented systems.
Items covered include:
- Legal requirements covering UDHWSS
- History and options for domestic hot water systems
- Types and working principles of UDHWSS
- Design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis of UDHWSS
Why should I attend this Course?
Approved Document G3 of the Building Regulations states:
"Unvented systems should be installed by a person competent to do so" and further states that a person on the list of approved installers satisfies these requirements.
Successful completion of this Course is evidence of an individual's competence in this specialised work area and should be sufficient to allow you to 'self-certificate' your installations.
How long does the Course take?
This Course can be completed in an extended day (8am to approximately 6pm) provided candidates read the Course study notes and complete the Course Workbook contained in the notes before attending.
What does it cost and what is included?
The total cost is £190 + VAT. This includes all revision, study notes, Assessment and certification fees. For this course we require payment in full to confirm a booking.
Full Course fees will be charged for cancellations within 21 days of the Course date (unless we cancel due to insufficient student numbers or you have made prior agreement with us regarding your reason for possible non-attendance).
What happens after the Course?
Once we have internally verified your paperwork (we have 10 working days after you have completed your Assessment in which to do this, providing we have all your relevant paperwork) we send it off to the certification body to be processed and uploaded to the Gas Safe Register. This can take up to six weeks.
Once this process is complete, you will receive a certificate and card directly from the certification body.
What does the Assessment involve?
To pass this Course, it is necessary to successfully complete two Assessments - a written and a practical. These take place in the afternoon after the revision.
