Leah Crozier - Year 3 Gas Apprentice

Leah is in the final year of her gas engineering apprenticeship at our Burgess Hill Training Centre, and works for the family business, K Crozier Heating.

What made you apply for an apprenticeship?

I was previously a hairdresser (another apprenticeship) but did not enjoy working in a salon so I started working with my dad whilst looking for another job. I soon discovered that I enjoyed getting my hands dirty working on the tools which led me onto this gas apprenticeship.

What is the best thing about your apprenticeship?

The best aspect of it is that I have learnt so much from this, much more than the 2 years working with the company before starting my apprenticeship training. It has definitely made learning easier when everyone else in the class is on the same page/level as you.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to your friends and family?

Definitely.. I am 25 years old and this is my 3rd apprenticeship (hopefully the last one!) and the best choice I could have ever made.

What have you gained personally from your apprenticeship?

Much more knowledge than I expected rather than just being out with an engineer all the time.

How have you found the apprenticeship experience overall?

I was not sure what to expect as I am the oldest in the class and the only lady but I cannot complain at all. I have found it easy to socialise with everyone in the class. I fell pregnant halfway through my apprenticeship and was able to finish my course during and after the pregnancy with no troubles at all. I cannot thank Steve Willis Training enough for all of the support I have had with my time here. I will definitely be coming back when my exams need renewing.
