Meeting the needs of the heating and plumbing sector
4th August 2016
Our MD Steve Willis was asked recently if the UK's current training facilities are meeting the needs of the heating and plumbing sector.
"Some are - those that really understand what the industry wants from its training. Here at Steve Willis Training we’re training more people than ever and the feedback we get from trainees and employers is very positive."
But Steve worries that provision in the FE sector seems to be declining, and wonders whether it is simply through lack of funding (heating and plumbing is notoriously expensive to deliver) and underinvestment, or a broader issue with the sector as a whole.
You can still find some excellent heating and plumbing training facilities in both the public and private sectors however, and to maintain high standards training centres must be constantly looking ahead to incorporate the latest technologies. This is often achieved through forging relationships and direct collaboration with manufacturers.
Here at Steve Willis Training we work with several manufacturers who use our training space to deliver their product training (e.g. Danfoss Randall, Intergas & HeatMat). Worcester Bosch have been tremendous over the years, and we also enjoy the support of several other manufacturers who support our apprenticeship training including Salamander & Monument Tools.
In this industry you cannot afford to stand still, and we are able to offer the most up to date training and facilities to our trainees. Looking to the future Steve vows to maintain the high standards we've already set at Steve Willis Training: "We’ll continue to provide a wide range of courses to meet our customer’s needs and implement an accessible and cost effective Trailblazer Apprenticeship solution to our local employers."
