Encouraging STEM skills
2nd May 2019

We had a great day last week at the 2019 Big Bang @ Solent event at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Organised by charity EBP South who connect local education and businesses, this popular annual STEM event attracted over 1000 students to take part in interactive STEM activities run by 40 different companies. The day is designed to inspire young people into STEM, enabling them to learn about the skills and subjects they'll need to go into STEM careers - including gas and electrical engineering.
The Steve Willis Training stand was run by our Business Development and Recruitment Coordinator, Katherine Jenkinson, who said afterwards
“The Big Bang Solent event is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with students thinking about their next steps after school. The event was wonderful, with a huge range of STEM activities to inspire the students and a large range of employers and training providers were present at the event. I spoke to many students about our gas and electrical apprenticeship opportunities and they enjoyed having a go at our electrical activity!”
