Reward for Apprentice of the Year finalist

30th July 2020

Gas Apprentice Marcus Piper, who trains at our Burgess Hill Centre, reached the final of the 2020 Screwfix Trade Apprentice of the Year competition.

This is a great achievement - he was one of just 10 finalists out of over 15,000 entries in this nationwide competition. He had to create a video presentation and attend a training and assessment day as part of the final stage.

Our MD Steve joined Dominic Halliday from Marcus' employer K & T Heating to congratulate Marcus and present him with £200 in Amazon vouchers as a reward for his achievement. Marcus' employers are not surprised by his success:

"From day one Marcus has shown all the qualities that we would wish for in an apprentice and a future employee. It has been an absolute joy to have Marcus as a member of the team over the past year, and we very much look forward to seeing him progress over the duration of his apprenticeship."

For Steve this shines a welcome spotlight on apprenticeships and the opportunities they offer to both young people and their employers:

"This shows how apprenticeships can give young people the skills and confidence they need to do great things"
