Apprentices – Good for Business

Do you think employing an apprentice is too time-consuming and costly? It might be time to think again following recent reforms to the Apprenticeship Levy.

Michelle Fraser, our Senior Business Development Adviser, runs our apprenticeship recruitment programme and she believes that taking on an apprentice can be one of the best things you can do for your business:

“An apprenticeship offers you as a business an opportunity to train an individual for a specific role and skill set which as we know is fast depleting in our industry. This can free up existing members of staff to take on more responsibility enabling you to concentrate on the day-to-day running of your business as your company grows.”

There can also be something refreshing about introducing a new recruit into your business.

“Apprentices can bring energy and fresh ideas to your company, and they come with a real desire to learn, and are ready to kick-start their own career.”

And if it seems like a daunting process, at Steve Willis Training we’re here to help you all the way through. It starts as we match suitable apprentices to potential employers, continues throughout the training programme as we provide feedback and support to apprentices and employers, and concludes with the celebration of their achievements at the annual Apprenticeship Graduation.

Michelle says planning is well underway for the September 2018 intake: “We already have a pool of fabulous candidates that have successfully passed our Initial Assessment process and are looking for an apprenticeship opportunity and all they need now is an employer…”
