Enhancing our Understanding of Cyber Security

Cyber Security refers to the measures taken by individuals and organisations to minimise the risk of falling prey to cyber-attacks. It’s primary goal is to safeguard the devices we rely on daily, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and computers, as well as the online services we use both at work and in our personal lives. An important aspect of cyber security involves preventing unauthorised individuals from accessing the vast amounts of personal information that we store on our devices and online platforms, in both our personal and working lives.

The significance of cyber security stems from the fact that smartphones, computers, and the internet have become integral parts of modern society. These technologies are so deeply ingrained in our lives that it is challenging to imagine functioning without them. From conducting online banking transactions and shopping to communicating via email and social media, it is now more crucial than ever to take proactive measures than can deter cyber criminals from compromising our accounts, data, and devices ensuring the safety of both us and our valued customers.

Steve Willis Training made recent investment to increase cyber security awareness among its employees. Oliver Kersh from Finch Cyber delivered a few cyber security awareness training sessions throughout the company, covering both our centres in Burgess Hill and Portchester.

Prior to these sessions, Finch Cyber took the initiative to organise and send some phishing emails to the team. These successfully raised people’s awareness and the importance of understanding cyber security. The face-to-face sessions were interactive and interesting, enforcing the need for more cyber awareness. Oliver kept the team engaged, focused, and interested. The sessions have sparked discussions regarding the importance of practising cyber vigilance both at work and in our personal lives.

Phishing emails are becoming increasingly difficult to detect, and even the most vigilant users may still overlook some of them. Regardless of the size or nature of your business, it is inevitable that you will encounter phishing attacks at some stage.
