Apprenticeship Electrotechnical Curriculum Lead
An excellent opportunity to be part of the Steve Willis Training Apprenticeships Team, to lead and manage our Apprentice Trainers in the delivery of our Electrotechnical Apprenticeships.Actively playing a key part within the Apprenticeship team, ensuring that our apprenticeship programmes are of high quality and our learners are supported throughout their journey. Whilst continually meeting the Awarding Organisation requirements, and are compliant with the regulatory (Ofsted) and funding (ESFA) bodies.
Based at either one of our centres in Burgess Hill or Portchester, with the requirement for occasional travel across the two.
Hours per week (paid): 40
Days and hours: Monday – Friday, 8hrs per day between 08:00 am – 05:00 pm
The week consists of both curriculum lead duties and a commitment of at least 1 day delivering training to an apprentice group.
- Take the lead in programme and curriculum delivery & development
- Coordinate meetings (only chair where appropriate) for the team including standardisation/moderation
- Plan and maintain, with teaching staff, the Scheme of Works and the appropriate lesson plans so that they meet current industry standards
- Produce both high & low-level plans for all classes, ensuring workspace allocated
- Organise, structure and manage the ‘Learners' learning experience
- Monitor and drive retention, achievement and success rates
- Co-ordinate the training staff to ensure timely completion of the learner's programmes
- Monitor learner’s progress and development, ensuring that learners are aware of the different strands of support available to them and action plans agreed
- All Safeguarding and disciplinary issues are dealt with in accordance with policies and procedures and are notified to Apprenticeships Administration Team
- Engage with employers and resolve any learner/employer issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure the reviews with learners are both meaningful, honest and reflect work done to date and have measurable targets, whilst meeting the requirements of Ofsted and funding contract
- Monitor the progression of workplace observations which are carried out by the onsite assessor, to include Health & Safety reviews if required.
- Functional Skills are embedded and planned into the programme.
- Support with the implementation of improvements identified in the Self-Assessment Report and Quality Improvement Plan.
- To ensure relevant course material and facilities are current and consistent across both centres
- Carry out performance reviews with Trainers/Assessors, agree on personal development objectives and monitor activity recorded on individual Continuous Personal Development log.
- Work with and support the Health & Safety Co-Ordinator in related activities.
- Regularly meet with the Curriculum Manager to review and drive the Key Performance Indicators
- Manage the department to ensure timely achievement is reached to SWT expectations.
Essential
- Level 3 electrotechnical Qualification including AM2S or AM2E
- Current and up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards
- Minimum 5 years in the industry with a wide-ranging experience in the field of electrotechnical with domestic & commercial experience
- Experience in Electrotechnical programme delivery within a college or training organisation in either a part or full-time role at course tutor level
- Enhanced understanding of the current C&G Electrotechnical Standards/Qualifications
- Management experience
- L3 Teaching Qualification
Desirable
- 10 years+ in the industry (a time-served apprentice) with wide-ranging experience in both domestic and commercial fields
- Understanding of the Apprenticeship Standards, including the role of Ofsted, and funding routes
- Experience in Electrotechnical programme delivery within a college or training organisation including some responsibility for programme development and quality assurance
- A1 or TAQA equivalent
- Cert. Ed. or equivalent
- IQA qualification
- Management qualification
